He was one of the first Malawians to be ordained a Catholic priest. He was born in 1907 at T.A. Mulumbe in Zomba. He studied for the priesthood at Nguludi Preparatory Seminary, Nankhunda Minor Seminary,and Tabora Major Seminary in Tanzania, a process which took twenty years. He was ordained a priest on 11 September 1938.
After his ordination, he served in many Catholic missions. At first, he served in Dedza and Zomba vicariates in the following parishes: Utale, Zomba, Mpiri, Nsipe, Nsanje, Chikwawa, Tsangano. In 1968, he transferred to Blantyre Archdiocese where he served in the following parishes: Nguludi, Mzedi, Chingadzi, and Maryview. He died on 28th April 1984.
