Of America. African descent. 1840, having previously received Orders in the American Episcopal Church, joined the Church Missionary Society as Principal of the Fourah Bay Institution, Sierra Leone. 1864, came to England with Mrs. Jones, and died at New Brompton, Chatham, Kent, May 14, 1865. 1838, married (1) Hannah Nyländer; (2) 1845, September 2, –Wilkins, who died —-; (3) Elizabeth Schuff, successor to Miss Hehlen at the Hannah Briathwaite Orphan Asylum.
